Innocence

by Isabel Ambrosia

Among the most regrettable things about becoming an adult, for me, is the abandonment of innocence, the fooling around, the honest disclosure of one's naiveté, the unseriousness.

At some point, we are so focused on being taken seriously that we lose our comedy. Hold ourselves back. Even our refreshing enthusiasm. Everything is brought to the outside in a throttled way. So many filters are erected that at some point we disconnect from the vitality itself and can hardly perceive the roots of our humanity.

We need to be taken seriously so that we can be trusted to do something. So that people can enter into business with us with confidence.

It's better not to admit what we can't do or don't know. And better we try to be able to do what we should be able to do because certain people we want to impress do it. Even if it is something that bores us, as playing golf.

We shouldn't let this happen. The sacrifice is too big. We will notice it sooner or later. But for some will it be too late.

The shenanigans eventually fade in us. And we have worked so long and ambitiously on a certain image that we can not just throw away our efforts.

Do not let this happen. If you still notice this development, pull the cord and rethink.

What are you giving up the best in life for? Namely fun!
